About me

I've been a UX writer/content designer since 2017, and a technical writer since leaving university.
And I still love it!

Despite the job title, writing is only a small part of being a technical or UX writer.

This is why we’re also known as content designers or information architects. I like to think of us as documentation detectives.

The biggest and – at least for me – best part of any writing project is research. It’s finding out who knows what about the product and the users. Who are the SMEs? Where’s that information stored? Is there a spec? How many user types or personas are there? Is there a mockup? How do I access the application? Can I access the application?

Very often, you need to dig deep. Really deep.

And that’s where the fun but serious work starts.
